I was going to post this tomorrow, lest anyone accuse me of not taking a day off today. But then I noticed Richard Charkin was busy blogging, pre-goose, and I felt left out.
Just wanted to wish everyone the best on this most festive of days but also (of course) to point out that Friday Books has just announced its first four titles of 2006. It goes without saying that we’re enormous fans of both Popjustice and TheManWhoFellAsleep so we’re happy as Larry to finally be able to make the announcement. Yay.
Oh, speaking of TMWFA, a quick thank you to Greg for designing the front of our super TFP Christmas cards this year. For those of you unlucky enough not to have received yours yet (lost in the post, for sure), the message inside reads...
‘Here at TFP we hate good causes and so have decided to spend the money we would have given to charity this year on these expensive Christmas cards. That way, you don’t have to put up with a wanky e-card and no sick donkeys get rescued. Everyone’s a winner! Merry Christmas!’
My favourite part of the design process was when I asked Greg to suggest a typically Christmassy scene for the front of the card. Pause. Greg is of course Jewish. We came up with the idea of a nativity scene, but with an empty manger. Sadly it was rejected on the grounds of blasphemy. Humbug.
Right, I’m off to drink some more wine and there’s a Christmas pudding with my name on it.
Merry merry.
